Artisanal ceramic production, craftsman based in Millau, South of France

Our approach of tradition and modernity

A desire for excellence and authenticity
Products made with passion and heart

The company was born from the dream of a Belgian Ceramic Engineer and Artisan d'Art and a visual artist from Millau. Combining their technical and artistic skills, this dynamic and creative duo set out to produce handcrafted ceramic products for domestic use: tableware by casting or throwing, decorative objects by modeling and many other accessories to embellish everyday life and the home.

Like the star, "KOMET" products are the result of a skilful blend of water, fire and earth, ecological, sustainable and recyclable materials.

A french artisanal production, at the heart of the Millau basin, the KOMET company is part of an ancestral tradition of table ceramics dating back to the Gallo-Roman period. For two centuries, more than 600 potters developed a quasi-industrial production of tableware and pots in sigillated ceramics, which spread to the farthest reaches of the Roman Empire.

We are proud to be able to carry the label «Made in Aveyron» on all the products of our ranges, as well as the official title of «Artisan d'Art» of our ceramic engineer.

Our desire for authenticity and seasonality: KOMET collections are seasonal and limited. Our team wants to provide quality items from a reasoned and eco-responsible production. This makes every piece of our services even more unique !

Oustanding certified products for food.

Each of our ceramic products is meticulously manufactured and checked by our team. KOMET also ensures that it is always at the forefront of French food standards for our raw materials and glazes.

Why the name KOMET?

A little scientific popularization beforehand: comets are among the small bodies in the Solar System that orbit our star and were formed around 4.56 billion years ago.

They are among the most primitive bodies in our solar system, and the origin of cometary matter remains a matter of debate to this day, and may also depend on the comet being studied and considered. Science has learned a great deal about the chemical nature and refractory composition of these stars thanks to the Rosetta space mission. This research has revealed the presence of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. Analysis of the dust grains identified silicates. Some of these silicates were formed at very high temperatures, as evidenced by their crystalline forms.

So what's involved? Water, silicate rock, gas and heat are all essential components of ceramics. That's why KOMET bears the name!  Everyday objects in terracotta, from common clay to noble earths, the creative possibilities are as infinite as these celestial stars.

Eco-conscious production and actions

The KOMET workshop is working on several levels to have the lowest possible carbon footprint and value what would be thrown in other major brands and ceramics companies.

This requires strong actions:

  • At the energy level, with the energy of photovoltaic panels.
  • The recycling of our wastewater and production waste for the creation of the capsule collection «Le Cycle de la Grave»
  • Collaboration with regional and French actors and artisans
  • The choice of an ethical web host via the company Agence Sésame - Web et Communication
