KOMET ceramic plates in THE LANE!

plates, aveyron, millau, handmade, ceramic

The photo shoot by Naomi SEM (floral and wedding designer) with Sidonie VIDAL (photographer) was published on THE LANE blog.

It all began on 6 February.

"[...] I'm currently preparing for a new photo shoot [...] in April at the famous Carrière des Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence. [...] I am convinced that your expertise and artistic sensibility would be a major asset for this project" from NAOMI SEM

Naomi Sem contacted us following our recent collaboration on ceramic pieces for floral art. The moodboard we received the very next day announced a grandiose setting!
At the very start of the design process, it seemed obvious to us to contrast the geometry of this white limestone space with the play of intense light and shadow.
The crockery had to be asymmetrical, almost organic, and evoke softness and lightness. Its colour should resonate with these mineral strata, subtly off-set to take its place on the table, but restrained to blend in with the environment and décor. Transparent matt enamel is perfect for this challenge.

The artistic direction was clear, and it was time to start production!

The OSTRIA model is ideal for the main piece in this ceramic triptych. Made from a rough plaster mould and hollowed out by hand, its volume evokes the detail of carved stone, as well as its aquatic form. Limestone is a sedimentary rock, so everything coincides perfectly.
Then the standard stages of artisan production begin: casting, drying, biscuit firing, glazing and final firing.
All that remains is to make the presentation plate and the bread plate.
What better way to suggest movement on a piece of earthenware than to work the clay by hand! That's when the RAUBA model was born, available in two formats. After shaping, cutting and lowering, we delicately worked each movement so that it left a sensation of fluidity in the clay, similar to that of a wave or a light drape.

In March, all 60 ceramic pieces will be in the hands of Naomi Sem and her collaborator on this event, photographer Sidonie Vidal.
The project brings together a number of designers and event specialists from the Occitanie region for the scenography supplies.

Thanks to this magnificent project and the teams who took part, we are extremely proud and delighted to have this article published on the international blog THE LANE.
