Ceramic tableware

Finta! the podcast, "Hands and feet bound by the soil of South Aveyron".

Ceramic tableware - French craftsmen in Aveyron - Komet

Ceramics is not the first of Aveyron's traditional crafts to spring to mind. Who remembers that 2000 years ago, Millau was the leading ceramic production site in the Roman Empire? Its strategic location, at the confluence of the Tarn and Dourbie rivers, enabled it to export its production throughout the Empire until the early 3rd century.

Of this history, archaeological traces remain and a few voices are raised between the valleys and causses. Marion Dubourdieu and her husband, Quentin Hermant, are two such voices. Both created Komet, their brand of ceramic tableware, in the year 2023.
She was an art teacher, he is a ceramic engineer. She is the artistic director, he is the craftsman. With Komet, they are part of an ancestral history. And it was in their workshop in Millau, right next to the kiln where their first autumn/winter collection is still being fired, and where you can still hear the clickety-clack, that we recorded this first episode of season 4 of Finta!

You can listen or listen again to the podcast here! Finta! is a podcast written, directed and produced by Lola Cros. Mixing: studio Qude.

Komet was present, along with 80 other exhibitors, at the Salon du Fabriqué en Aveyron, held in Millau on 22, 23 and 24 September 2023. The team hopes to have met you there.
